Melrose Hotel

Melrose Hotel was a last minute booking when another lodging didn't work out. The price was quite reasonable and I consider the hotel to be not all the frills but full of character and a wonderful staff. Rooms were small but we adjusted; beds comfortable and rooms cleaned each day. One big plus for us was that the hotel is away from the hustle of the busy areas like around the Central Station, yet easy to walk into central areas when desired. There are several good restaurants nearby including a lovely cafe only steps from the hotel entrance. Go for the reasonable pricing, stay for the enjoyable staff and location.

We had an unintentional night stop in Amsterdam due to weather/snow closure at Schipol airport. Even though it was very late around 23.30 when we booked the Melrose hotel, it wasn't a problem as they're open 24/7. On arrival at the hotel, the friendly manager quickly sorted out the rooms for us. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. We had a good nights sleep, ready for our onward travel the next morning.

Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Brilliant location, very close to the city centre. A lot of shops on same road as Melrose which is handy.

The hotel is conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from Dam Square, with a pleasant route passing by numerous shops and eateries along the way.

Excellent location to the Nine Streets area for shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars. More of a local feel to it with local cafes, bars and supermarkets. Quite rooms, ours was below street level with window backing onto laneway at street level. Tram stops within less than 5 minutes walk. Express bus from airport is at the end of the street,.
